I think the hope was the reader would catch on that the protagonist was Snow White from the original version of the story. Also names have power. This is old, old magick. Someone’s true name can be used to invoke or bind them. It’s why in Jim Butcher’s The Dresden Files, Harry Dresden never gives his full name. And you should DEFINITELY read the original fairy tales. They’re not very “Kiddie.”
