God Emperor is my favorite book in the series and KNOWING the consequences of the Scattering is honestly important for closure. I feel kinda bad for anyone who was convinced not to finish the series because authors changed because there are empty spaces in their hearts for Paul, for Chani, for Duncan, even for Harkonen.

So, to answer the question from someone who has read them all plus a lot of the extended universe: Yes, they’re worth reading but no, the story telling does not stay the same. It’s great, true science fiction that compels the spirit and the mind, but the Herberts do not share one voice. At least finish the main series, finish the story of the ‘future’ of the Dune series so that you might go back and read the histories.
