Churches are not allowed to involve themselves in politics to the extent that they stump for one candidate or party in their official dealings. They’re also not supposed to discriminate. (See the Bob Jones U. tax case.) When they do that, they’ve stepped over the line as far as the IRS is concerned. Even gov’t employees have laws that keep them from supporting one candidate/party at work.
