a very blurry picture taken at unchained (winston-salem) by yours truly. almost halfway through the first part of the performance last night i noticed a figure that sat down on the right side of the stage behind a curtain- they were obviously trying not to be noticed, but from where i was sitting i could see the sheen of the shoes against the black stage (partly because they were really shiny, and partly because they began bouncing their legs). i studied this person throughout the entire performance. of course i wasn’t entirely sure who it was, but i had a clue. after returning from a brief intermission the figure had a black coffee mug in hand. they kept their legs crossed and kept bouncing their feet around, resuming to what they had been doing throughout the first part of the show- but then they leaned forward to sit their coffee cup beside their chair and i got a brief glimpse of dark hair….

NEIL. THE BASTARD!

it was a little thing, but it inspired me for some reason. a famously appraised author still has time to watch his pals tell stories.

Tea. It was tea.

And I wouldn’t miss a moment. Dawn and Edgar and Peter have told about 14 different stories on this tour. And they change from night to night, in the way of first person stories.
