There’s more information at the BBC website.

But these days you need to get it from an audiobook site or buy it on CD or Vinyl.

BECAUSE TIME IS LINEAR AND WE WERE TALKING ABOUT THE MOVIE, you NITWIT, you UTTER BABOON of a BESTSELLING AUTH0R

The tree wasn’t in the movie of Stardust, and was not voiced by anyone. The tree was in the Audio adaptation and was voiced by Tori Amos.

If the tree not being voiced by your preferred actor would make you grumble then, a fortiori, being cut out of the movie entirely should as well.

Why? The tree in the book was based on Tori Amos. She had asked me to make her into a tree when I wrote Stardust, so when I wrote it I did.

If the film of Stardust had had the character of the tree in it, Tori would have voiced it. (At one point the Tree was in the script. Someone else playing the voice of the tree would have made me grumble as it was always meant to be her.)

When Jane and Matthew and I trimmed those scenes from the script of the film (for pacing and for clarity) the Tree wasn’t in there. This did not make me grumble. This was part of the editing process that you use to make films.

When I made the Audio Play adaptation with the BBC, the Tree was in there and Tori played her.

(Also, dodgy use of “a fortiori”. That’s not a stronger argument. That’s just you not knowing what we were talking about.)

I don’t think it makes you invincible, but it makes you see things cleary.
