Thank you. I was told off for the cotton gloves by several archivists, so it’s nice to be applauded.
The cotton gloves are in the book, and they tell everyone he’s doing it properly, even if these days a lot of archivists are in the “wash your hands well and don’t use gloves as it’s too easy to do damage turning the pages while wearing them” camp.
As a museum studies major I just justified it to myself that aziraphale uses a miracle so the gloves don’t damage the book pls don’t actually use gloves with old manuscripts
That was my theory too. He’s using miracles to make sure that the books are undamaged, and wears gloves because it makes him feel fancy.
