Rebloggable by request: On Manners

Having reblogged the Trans Etiquette does that mean you 100% agree with it. Aren’t you worried it paints all Transgender people as overly sensitive? Maybe I’m not entitled to ask since I don’t have the pleasure of knowing a Transgender person but I would consider it damaging to assume all Transgender people are the same, not as varied and unique as people fortunate enough to be born in the skin they feel at home. (PS I’m a huge fan of not just your work but all you do to promote equality.)

I thought that it was, primarily, a call for good manners. I don’t think it paints trans people as sensitive at all: I think it reminds all people that good manners mostly consist of putting yourselves in someone else’s place, and then doing your best to treat the other person with as much respect and courtesy as you would want, if you were them.
